The Georgia Mineral Society (GMS) is the oldest and largest
gem and mineral society in the Southeast.
Founded in 1935, we are a completely volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization
dedicated to educating the youth of the state and members of our
society in the field of Earth Sciences.
GMS is a member of the Southeast Federation of Mineralogical Societies (SFMS)
and is associated with the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS).
We are the founding member of the SFMS DMC Field Trip Committee, a program that facilitates and encourages member clubs in the Southeast to share field trips.
Members participate in numerous activities such as field trips, workshops, special events, and specific interests in micromounting, fossils, gems, minerals, and sand.
We also have a group that is specifically for children (junior section) with field trips and other educational opportunities.
