Junior SANDsational Fun Report
Junior Section was sponsored by Sand Section, so they had some hands-on fun as they learned about geology by looking at sand. After a quick lesson about ways sand can form, juniors made sand cards using an eroded mineral sand and a biological sand. Then they examined the sand particles on their cards with various microscopes including one with an adapter for cell phones so they could take pictures of their sand!
Next, they made shadow box art using sandpaper with lots of different colors. Their creations were so cool and creative!
To cap off their sand fun, juniors played a lively game of hide-and-seek with toothbrush sand timers as prizes. They also received special sand scoops and their very own magnifier! Plus, they enjoyed a sweet snack of "sandies" cookies :o)
