Ad Hoc 3D Printing Group
A Special GMS Group
for People Interested in Rockhound-related 3D Printing
The Ad Hoc 3D Printing Group Meets
Third Tuesday
Every Even Month
3D printing is becoming popular in the rockhounding and lapidary world. It can be a useful tool for rockhounds, from specimen stands to replacement parts to jigs to templates, and even printing parts to build your own lapidary equipment.
The GMS Ad Hoc 3D Printing Group meets every even month via Zoom to talk about 3D printing related to rockhounding and lapidary uses. If you are interested, you must be a member of GMS, and all members are encouraged to submit ideas for topics to cover.
If you have any questions about the Ad Hoc 3D Printing Group, please send email to

I am doing 3D printing for a lot of projects with my lapidary hobby. I know that there are others in GMS who are doing the same. So, I had the idea to have an ad hoc 3D printing group that would meet bimonthly just to discuss ideas and help each other. This would not be a general 3D printing support group as there are many of those out there. It would mainly be for ideas and tech in the use of 3D printers in lapidary and rockhounding. If you think this is a good idea, email me, and we'll see if there is any interest in such a group.
