Stromatolites and Jasper in Georgia

After a wonderful trip to collect agate, Charles led a small side trip for our new friends from the Chugach Gem & Mineral Society from Anchorage, Alaska. Everyone managed to navigate the small road and dense brush to reach the collecting site. Fortunately, there weren’t any bears or moose, but we did see some poison ivy and barely budding thorny blackberries. Our journey was rewarded with stromatolite fossils and yet another adventure for the day!
Many thanks to the property owners who so graciously allow us to visit this fantastic place. I was happy to see the Alaskans enjoying themselves and getting good specimens. And, of course, thank you to Charles for arranging this little trip!
