Diamond Blade Plant Tour in Georgia
Friday, February 3, 2023
For a very long time, Charles has been interested in how diamond blades are manufactured. During his research, he realized a diamond blade manufacturing company was right here in Georgia! He contacted them and eventually arranged for a small group to visit the plant.
Our host started with a very detailed presentation about the processes involved in producing segments embedded with industrial diamonds that are then laser welded to a blank blade. He explained the physics, chemistry, metallurgy, and engineering. Then, we toured the plant. Thanks to the earlier presentation, we had a much better understanding of what we were seeing. As we progressed through the processes, we became even more curious and our host graciously answered every question. Afterwards, all the trip attendees expressed their gratitude and continued discussing what we had just learned. Everyone had a great time and we hope to visit again someday.
Many thanks to our host and to all of the employees who took time from their busy day to show us what they were doing and how they do it. We received an incredibly warm welcome and we were overwhelmed with the generosity of our host. Thank you to Charles as well for working so hard to put together this fascinating trip!
Note: Because some processes may be proprietary, this report cannot include details or photographs.
