Epidote, Grossular Garnet, Scolecite, Geology in Georgia
Friday, April 9, 2021
On April 9th, the recently reinvigorated micromount group went for a field trip to a local quarry. 9 seasoned rockhounds spent a beautiful sunny day (despite a forecast calling for thunderstorms and rain) looking for minerals. Lots of rocks were smashed to pieces for further processing at home. Some of the minerals collected were a variety of pyrite, scolecite and other zeolites, garnets, calcite and epidote. A special thanks to Brian at the quarry for all his support.
