Tiny Almandine Garnets in Georgia
Saturday, March 31, 2018
As always, adopt-a-highway trash pick-up volunteers were rewarded for their hard work with a field trip. This time, we collected tiny garnets for grab bags (and a few cool one's to keep for ourselves, too).
The garnets are everywhere! You can't miss them. It's so much fun to collect those little guys! We quickly collected plenty of garnets for grab bags, then started finding some large (for that location) garnets, too.
Many thanks to the property owners for allowing us to visit this wonderful place and many thanks to field trip chair Charles Carter for arranging such a fun trip.

Lizabeth noticed something moving. It was this ant, pulling something...

...it was pulling this spider! AAAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!

Fascinating how much weight a tiny ant can pull, but my eyes need some rest...

Fortunately, there were some pretty things there for happy thoughts.
