GMS Juniors Field Trip
Quartz Crystals in Georgia
Saturday, November 4, 2017

After standing still briefly for a group picture, juniors didn’t stop until they were loaded with quartz crystals or it was time to go home! They were even finding crystals in the path to the good spot! But, we finally got there and everyone set to work. The adults on the trip dug hard to move the red clay and dirt out of the way, so it didn’t take long before clear points and even a few clusters starting popping out. Juergen Poppelreuter brought a big tub and large containers of water as well as a spray pump for washing crystals. A quick scrub and rinse revealed some stunning finds.

Juniors and adults worked diligently all day and everyone went home with some seriously cool treasures. Plus, there were so many crystals that everyone gladly donated many of their just-dug crystals for grab bags, too. Once the juniors picked out some of their favorite crystals, Diana Poppelreuter wire wrapped a few right there in the field for them!

Many thanks to the property owners for graciously allowing us to collect on their property. Also, a big thank you to Harry Vas Dias for prospecting the location for the club. And, thanks to Charles Carter for arranging yet another great Juniors’ trip!
