Mississippian Fossils and Geodes in Tennessee
Saturday, November 12, 2016
Attendees on this trip were offered the pleasure of collecting at three locations. At the first location there were fossilized coral colonies for everyone! They were muddy and will need a bit of cleaning, but once cleaned they show very fine definition. At the second location, we collected lots of crinoid stems as well as a few calyxes, plus some lovely blue agate cutting material. There were so many stems we will have plenty for next year's grab bags! The third location also had plenty of grab bag material including tiny geodes to break open, tiny geodes already broken open, and pretty little geode bits & pieces. We even found a few fossils at the third location.
It was an incredibly beautiful day for collecting and everyone was able to find some very nice pieces. Many thanks to the Knoxville club for inviting us on their trip and we look forward to future trips with them!
