Jacksons Crossroads, GA
Saturday, January 26, 2013
Jane and I went to the Jacksonville hosted dig at Jacksons Crossroads on Saturday. January 26. While we were there we talked with the Caretaker of the property. The mine has not been worked commercially since July of 2012. We found that the site is available to individuals as well as organizations. The Caretaker gave us his telephone number to call to make arrangements for a visit. He indicated that the hours available were 9:00am to 5:00pm, but the starting time was flexible. He will meet the visitors at the gate at the time arranged when the visitor calls. As usual, safety rules will be discussed and a site visitation agreement will be required to be signed. The fee will be $15.00 per person.
During the dig on Saturday, we witnessed, near us, two nice (both form, size and color) specimen finds. We brought home several nice clusters of small crystals in small vugs. Individuals we met were from Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
