Fossils in Alabama
Saturday, January 12, 2013
We had 15 rockhounds representing 3 clubs (GMS, Rome, and Cobb). The first site was the shell attachment site and there was plenty of material for all. It was pretty much determined that the shell attachments are probably contemporary but still very cool. We next went to the trilobite location and everyone easily found trilobites. We then took a break for lunch at the local restaurant. The last location was for Brooksellas and once again everybody found something interesting including a few Brooksellas. Also some trilobites were found. Overall, everyone had a great time and we'll probably do this trip again. A special thanks to Bob Madden for showing us this location.Charles Carter

Collecting along the lake was perfect

The odd markings on the rocks at the lake still have us puzzled

Several very nice trilobites were found

Some people even found a Brooksella or two!

We found a few weird rocks too

Bill Waggener found a beautiful "goddess"

When the horses showed up we made some new friends

We even had some fungus among us
