These are the true, big time, mineral and fossil shows here in Tucson.  If your looking for museum quality display specimens, the AMFS shows are the ones to visit.  If your looking for the biggest ban for your buck, these are not necessarily the best places to look.  As a general rule: If you see it in an expensive motel room at an expensive hotel show, the prices are inflated to cover the extra overhead.  If you see the same quality of specimen at a warehouse or tent show, you will get a lot more for less money.  That said, if your willing to buy in LARGE quantities, you may be able to get an excellent buy even at a hotel show.  And finally, if you wait till the last day of a particular show, you can get great deals because most dealers DO NOT want to have to carry a lot of heavy specimens back home.  The problem with waiting till the very last day is that you will not have the best selection of material or may have missed out completely on the specimens that you waited to buy.  So, it all boils down to knowing where to go to get the best deals and skipping everything else till you have most of your shopping done!  (I wish I could follow my own advice!)

[2007]  A few less dealers here this year but still the most concentrated fossil shows in Tucson.  The InnSuites has a lot of fossil vendors but this show is ALL FOSSILS.  The tents in the rear of the motel are a mixture of rocks and fossils.   If your in to fossils, you should start here then go over to the InnSuites.

Martin Zinn has again decided to move back into this venue to expand his grip on the Tucson show scene.  In the past, when this motel was a LA Quinta Inn, it was a typical motel show with dealers occupying the rooms on both the upper and street level floors.  Some unfortunate situations occurred and La Quinta management decided to remove their property from the show list.  Some of the old time dealers stayed ( always easier for your customers to find you again) and kept a low profile while trying to re-establish this motel as a Tucson show.

The Fossil dealers have moved from the old Vagabond Plaza hotel location over to the Ramada Limited.  There are also a respectable number of "artifact" dealers here.

    [2005]
This show was almost exclusively fossil dealers with a few dealers in various types of artifacts to make it more interesting to non-fossil collectors.

Behind the Ramada sign in the back of the motel was another series of dealer tents.  More carved Moroccan items and additional fossil dealers.
