Diamond Hill Mine, Antreville,  Abbeville County, South Carolina

The dig at Diamond Hill was an overwhelming success.  The weather was perfect.  A total of 147 "rock hounds" representing clubs in 7 states turned out in force.  For many it was a family affair.  Parking was a challenge but it all turned out well.  Many volunteers from the hosting Athens Rock and Gem club helped the dig run without a hitch. A lot of nice specimens were found including single crystals and nice-sized clusters of amethyst.  There were a lot of "happy campers" by the end of the day.
